How much do we really absorb???

I’m sitting here on a cold Sunday morning pondering things in my little head and want to know some answers, that I’m sure will not come my way at the moment…

I guess my big question is who knows exactly how much we really absorb from all the vitamins that we take? Yes, they have all of these studies out and blah, blah, blah but I don’t see them coming up with any real solutions for me or really anyone else who is having post op difficulties. Why is that? I don’t need to hear “Well keep taking your vitamins etc.” it’s like listen I’m not an idiot, I know what to do…It’s just not working for me…Why isn’t anyone looking at the bigger picture to all of this? Hey, if I have to go back to school and become a doctor to figure this all out I will… It just gets so frustrating to everyday read countless articles on so many websites, journals etc that have no real validity. I can only hope that at some point a real course of action is created that will help people with this problem. Maybe I’m that voice that needs to be heard that shouts WAKE UP MEDICAL COMMUNITY!!! This needs to be addressed so that the people that have chosen this path can have a somewhat normal existence.

It sounds like so many people have negative effects from not absorbing enough vitamins and that really scares me. I am really hoping my insurance will cover the vertical gastric sleeve. Then I won’t have to worry about it to much. I think part of the problem is that the supplement industry isn’t regulated.

I really hope you find the best solution for you…There are 2 sides to everything, and people need to know both…And I hate to sound negative but sometimes it can’t be helped when telling the truth…I totally agree with you on that the supplement industry is not regulated like it should be…Maybe someday enough of us will come forward to make that change…

    Thank you for responding…
