I had been doing ok with all my vitamins until last August, when I was hospitilized for diverticulitus. I spent 5 days in the hospital and knew nothing the first 4 days because of all the meds.

Anyhow my RBC went down drastically and I haven't been able to get it back up. The doc keeps telling me my labs are fine, but he is my PCP and really is not well versed in WLS patients.
Fast forward to July, I go in for my B12 shot and tellhim I feel like crap, something is wrong. Three weeks and three docs later I am finally getting some answers. I will have an iron infusion on Monday. My hematologist refuses the shots because they are so painful. He also had a bunch of blood drawn and is doing tests my other docs have not done. The hematologist told me if I didn't feel better after the infusion and he can't find anythin in my blood work he will test my bone marrow. That is SCARY!! There is a history of cancer in my family, so he wants to get me well and is discounting nothing.

What really makes me angry is seeing doctors that say I am "normal" but they don't realize normal is not the same for everyone. I then have to educate them about the unique needs of WLS patients. Acckk!!

Please tell me how you are doing on Monday...I have never had Iron infusion only shots...I'm sure you will do just fine...

You know even when I had all my shots and IV nutrients treatment I still never felt 100%, but we found out that I have very low blood sugar...And that makes you so drained and tired all the time...So I have to go to an Endocrinologist to make sure I don't have tumors of the Adrenaline Glands...I don't think I have that but I have to do it anyway...

Push your Doctor to listen to you, cause something is going on and you need to know, and maybe you should mention about the round of Vitamins through an IV that I take to your doctor, but the sad part about that is there is nothing out there about Vitamins and IV treatments...My doctor just did it cause he said how could it hurt...The IV treatment is called Myer's Cocktail with Thiamine...I just wish that Doctor's would become more knowledgeable of all of this...Sometimes I feel like I'm the doctor even though mine is wonderful, I still have to figure things out...

I will be thinking about you and wishing all the luck in the world...Cause it is hard...

Thank you for the well wishes!! I really believe the hematologist is own my side.
I really hate that the docs are not up to date on us WLS folks.
I feel like I am beating my head against a wall sometimes!!
I will keep in mind about the IV vitamins!!

I'm always here for you and if you need to vent, please do so...Cause this is very frustrating and people sometimes just don't get it...But I do...

I will keep you in my thoughts today...You will be just fine and we will make sure you get fixed...We have to keep a positive attitude and things will work out, I have to believe that...

Let me know...

Talk later...
